The Goddess, 2017
The Goddess looks at the divine and the feminine in ancient myths. Fulfilling life is built on pleasing the Goddess. Therefore, material offerings become the fundament of feminine rituals. Life is filled with symbolism and object becomes significant. Cold stone turns into flesh. Bearskin embodies the angry Goddess. For a female author, the photograph - as object itself - acts as a sacrifice. Craft is turned into the feminine chore and servitude to the Goddess becomes a routine. Approached in the studio regularly, the seeds, stones and pieces of fabric provide a tactile experience of this servitude. The binary opposites of the Goddess become evident. The love and fury. The gratitude and fear. The ambivalence comes to the light.
